GIVE ME A BREAK!

There is only ONE child on either side of the family. It is Tom's niece. (His brother's 9 month old baby) When we told the family we were getting married in Jamaica, we said we need to know if the kid was coming because a lot of the resorts are 18+. They said, "we are 99.9% sure she won't come, but don't base your wedding off her anyway, do what you want." Awesome! I wanted a 18+ resort anyway! So we booked sandals, PUT OUR DEPOSIT DOWN and everything. Then today the kids mom (Tom's sister-in-law) messages me on facebook and asked what resort we booked and if it was 18+. I told her we booked sandals, which is 18+, but they can stay at a Beaches down the road which is a sandals property, but it allows children. We can shuttle to Beaches to see them during the day and shuttle back to sandals at night. (I was thinking about booking ALL the guests at Beaches. Hello, it would give us more privacy, ya know, honeymoon and everything going on? Haha) However, They would need to leave Katie at the daycare on site at Beaches for our wedding ceremony because it's at Sandals and HELLO CHILDREN AREN'T ALLOWED.

She said that if children aren't allowed, then they won't come because she refuses to leave the baby at the daycare for the ceremony. First of all, you told us the kid was "99.9%" not coming because she would stay with her grandma. Now you change your mind? Fine. I gave you an option for a family resort, with daycare. You refuse that. WTF do you want me to do about it?! WE ALREADY BOOKED OUR WEDDING. You're telling me Tom's own brother won't be at his wedding because you're a total bitch and won't even let him go alone? Why can't Tom's brother at least go? Because you're evil? Yeah. Guess so....

Also, a girl I know (we aren't super close anymore, but we talk on facebook and whatever) told me, "congrats on getting married, but things change, the MEN change after marriage, and it's not for the better."

W.T.F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been engaged for FIVE DAYS people! Why are you all trying to ruin this for me?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I told Tom I've so over everything. I'm not even excited anymore. Everyone sucked all the happiness right out of me. Sad. :(

Date is Set!

We put the deposit down to hold our wedding date & time! We are now "officially" getting married on 12/31/10 @ 4pm! I am having major cold feet right now! (good thing I have a year to warm up to the idea! Haha) It just all happened so fast! I've only been engaged for 4 days! But we knew we wanted 12/31 so our agent said we better put the deposit down to save the day before they fill up.

My mom is coming into town next weekend the 16-17th. She said we might as well go look at dresses since she is in town. So I'm pretty sure I'm not eating for the next 2 weeks! Ha!

My family is also really, really, really stressing me out. I wish everyone would BUTT OUT and let us plan our wedding how WE want to. Last night Tom's sister-in-law had him on the phone for over an hour asking why we wanted to do a destination wedding, why we can't just do it in MN and blah blah blah. I'm sorry, but if you don't want to come, DON'T COME! Ugh!

P.S. I was going to do my give-a-way on Jan 1st....buuuuuuuuuuuuut since I got engaged I TOTALLY forgot! Forgive me?! :) I've noticed a lot of fellow bloggers trying to get healthy now that it's a new year... So I'm thinking about giving away a year subscription to either Self or Fitness magazine? What do ya think?!

Stress already

One of the reasons we decided to go to Jamaica is because there isn't a lot of fuss. Bring your friends and your dress and get married. No detailed planning. But apparently people feel the need to give me their 2 cents on everything anyway! UGH!

We are meeting with a travel agent tonight. So excited! We are actually, officially, planning our WEDDING! :)

Also, Back to counting calories today after a break for new years/engagement celebrations. I have MAJOR motivation now! ;)

RINGing in 2010!

2009 was a great & important year. I got *almost* everything on my "major" wish list...

1- Buy a house, CHECK!
2- Lose more weight/keep the lost weight off, CHECK!
3- Get a puppy, CHECK (x2!)

*so the only thing left was*

4- Get engaged....................

Well, I'M ENGAGED!!!!!!!!

I got engaged right as it turned 2010. So I'd say 2010 is starting out to be an AMAZING year!!

I knew the proposal was coming soon-i
sh. But he totally had me fooled it wouldn't be for another month or two! He kept saying things like he didn't have it ordered yet and it takes a couple weeks to come in, and "don't get your hopes up" to get engaged before January. Also, he has an old engagement ring I thought he was going to trade in to help pay for mine. Well, I knew where he kept those rings and I would check daily to see if they were gone. They never left! (turns out, he is going to sell them to someone at work instead of trading it in because he will get more for it.)

So anyway, on New Years Eve we went out to dinner at Macaroni Grill. It was a pretty good time. I had some yummy drinks and lobster ravioli. We laughed a lot and talked about how 2009 was a good year for us. Then we didn't want to deal with crazy cover charges and trying to deal with finding a cab so we decided to just go home. I started to feel sick and took a nap on the couch while he played guitar hero. (which ruined part of his plan for a romantic fun night drinking champagne! Haha) I woke up around 11, 11:30 and had a glass of champagne. He insisted we find a channel that would show the ball dropping. (Which was a little weird, but I didn't suspect anything.) Once there was like a minute left he pulled me up and gave me a hug and said he loved me. He turned me around so he was standing behind me with his arms wrapped around me and we were both counting down the last 10 seconds...once it hit midnight I turned around to get my kiss and he was down on one knee with the ring!!!!!!!!!! I grabbed the ring and said, "REALLY?! Are you serious?! For REAL?!" Haha! And he said, "You didn't even let me propose!" :) Oops! So I gave him back the ring and started crying. He said he loved me very much and barely chocked out "will you marry me?" because he started to cry too. I said yes (of course!) and now, I'M ENGAGED!!! Wow. It's just barely starting to sink in, it doesn't feel real yet!

On New Years Day we were supposed to meet with my family for my grandma's birthday/Christmas round 2. So early in the morning I ran to Target & the dollar store and put together a travel box for everyone in my family. It had mini shampoo, travel toothbrush, sun screen, sea shells, sun glasses, and a map of Jamaica, etc. I had them all open them at the same time and when they were confused I shouted "We're engaged!" and it started to click. :) Everyone was very happy, which w
as nice. :) My little sister cried her eyes out because she was so happy. (which is why I'm so glad he planned it so I could tell everyone in person.)

The ring is beautiful. I absolutely love it!

One year from today (2009 recap)

If all goes as planned... one year from today I will be on the beach in Jamaica getting MARRIED! WooHoo!

2009 was a very good year, one of the best yet! We bought our first house, got our first dog, gutted our entire kitchen, got our second puppy, and grew closer as a couple. :)

To say I'm excited for 2010 is an understatement. However, 2009 was an amazing year and one I will remember for the rest of my life.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Christmas 2009

Christmas 2009 is over. (And I am GLAD!) I was feeling like a major grinch this year and just couldn't get into the holiday spirit! I was stressed out, depressed, blah blah. I'm glad everything can get back to normal now.

On our way to my mom's house we stopped for some fancy taco bell. When we were leaving, Tom told me to grab my present out of his pocket....I found this.

Yeah, a hot sauce packet that said, "Will you marry me?" HAHAHA! I told him that it's official now because I have proof! ;) He says it's not official until he gives me my ring...Boo! But he did tell his entire family we are getting married next year! That even opened a bottle of champagne and gave us a toast! WTF?! He's taking away some of the excitement from when we "officially" get engaged by telling his family already! UGH. So we're planning a wedding, he told his whole family we're getting married, but we're not "engaged." It's frustrating! JUST HURRY UP ALREADY! :P He did grab his ex fiance's wedding ring set to trade in though. I knew the proposal wouldn't come until he grabbed her set out of storage at his dad's house because he's using whatever $$ he gets from her set to put towards mine. So now he has it and I just wait...and wait...and wait!

Here's a picture of our little family, Christmas 2009

Christmas Angel & 2 feet of snow

I have my very own Christmas angel this year... There is a blizzard coming to Minnesota, starting this afternoon. Between this afternoon and Friday night, we are going to get TWO FEET of snow! Did I mention this blizzard is starting TODAY and I am scheduled to work tomorrow? Meaning, we can't make the three hour trip home until tomorrow night? When we could have a foot of snow already?! Awesome.

Insert my very own Christmas angel, Mary. She is a lady I work with and she went behind my back and told our boss she would work for me tomorrow so we could head home tonight, and miss most of the storm. This lady gave up xmas eve with her own family so I could go home. Really?! That is just the sweetest thing! I am so touched! What an amazing thing to do for someone! I love her. :)

P.S. I DON'T love 2 feet of snow. How in the hell will we even get back into our driveway on Sunday after 2 feet of snow and nobody home to shovel?! UGH!
